The 4th annual Canal Days Mountain Bike Race
The race will take place on Sunday August 5, 2012. The race will highlight the expansive trail system along the Welland Canal around the Robin Hood Lands.
The Canal Days race is being organized by the ShortHills Cycling Club of Niagara, and is designed to challenge riders of all skill levels. The race will be started in waves with sport and expert distnace, providing a level of challenge for just about everyone.
The courses selected feature combined dirt, partially paved and gravel trails featuring steep climbs and drops, rocky terrain, bench cuts, open vistas, and dense foliage.
FREE Youth MTB Race
A free 5km youth race no pre-registration for this DAY OF REGISTRATION only and is for those 14yrs of age and under that want to feel the excitement of racing. Just for the younger riders, a great fun approximately 5km beginner specific course to make your first race experience a great one!
Adult MTB Race
A challenging course of mostly single track with a variety of different terrain from rocky areas to rock gardens, roots, logs, bridge crossings and tight twisty trail sections to make a challenge for even the toughest Expert level rider. Course length will be approximately 15km (sport) 30km (expert) in a multi-lap format with expected finish times of 1 - 2 hrs in duration. Riders will be placed in staring waves based on rider skill level selected during registration.
