Climb aboard the Empire Sandy for a true tall ship cruise through the historic locks of the Welland Canal, enjoying the sight of the engineering marvels as the Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival kicks off or take in the breath taking views of Lake Erie as you enjoy a cruise during the festival. The Empire Sandy is a 200 foot topsail Schooner, and is the largest in Canada. Built in 1943, she sails with 11,000 square feet of sail and has double cannons that are fired at special times. Different cruises options are available throughout the weekend that include morning and afternoon pleasure cruises out on Lake Erie, an evening sunset cruise and dinner cruises. The Sunday evening dinner cruise is a favourite, as you are treated to the best seats in the house for the annual Canal Days fireworks celebration!
Although the Empire Sandy can accommodate wheelchairs on deck; there is no wheelchair access to restrooms. Children's car seats and strollers are permitted as well as working service dogs.
